Through hands-on learning in a dynamic retail environment, student retailers can gain valuable skills in:

  • - customer service
  • - merchandising
  • - teamwork

AND

  • - problem-solving

Students can enroll in RMM222 (Retailing Practicum). The course is an elective that can earn students 1-3 credits per semester. The course can also be repeated up to a total of 6 credits, depending on the number of course modules the student wants to complete 🤓

Students can rise through levels from Student Retailer --> Student Supervisor --> Official VolShop Intern --> Student Program Coordinator

Course modules / topics covered include customer service, floor layout planning, visual merchandising, inventory management, promotional set-ups, color theory, e-commerce, omnichannel retail, buying / planning, and retail analytics 📙

If you're interested in earning academic credit while working at the VolShop, please reply to this email or email Brian Wright, Executive Director, at bwrigh55@utk.edu

**Course is provided in conjunction with Dr. Jason Carpenter of the UT Retail School.
