Big Orange Country Heavy Weight Tee

While this design screams UT football, the phrase “Big Orange Country” was actually the brainchild of UT men's basketball coach Ray Mears. Taking inspiration from an Ohio team called the “Big Red” and Marlboro's “Marlboro Country” billboards, Mears created an advertising campaign, made merchandise deals with Cumberland Avenue bookstore owner Tom Rechenbach, and had his team wear bright orange blazers pregame to hammer the phrase home.
